COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This 90-minute presentation by Attorney Rachael Ardanuy provides a high-level overview of current Colorado law governing permissible personal use of cannabis and psilocybin mushrooms, related limitations on individuals’ rights, and how personal medical and recreational use laws impact other legal practice areas, such as employment, American with Disability Act accommodation compliance, real estate, land use, landlord/tenant, family law, criminal defense, and estate planning and probate. This course also discusses Colorado’s highly-regulated commercial Natural Medicine Program as of October 30, 2024 and the intersection of marijuana legalization, the Natural Medicine Health Act, and the effect of Colorado’s Rules of Professional Conduct on the acts and obligations of attorneys.
SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY:
Rachael Ardanuy, Esq. is a regulatory business attorney licensed in Colorado, Florida, and New Jersey and the founder of the law firm RZA Legal. She began her legal career in Florida where she focused on representing clients in estate planning, probate, guardianship, family law, and civil and criminal litigation. Since relocating to Colorado in 2015, Rachael has dedicated her career to advising, educating, and advocating for entrepreneurs, business owners, investors, landlords, and anyone else connected to the cannabis industry, to see her clients succeed and to continue pushing the cannabis industry forward. This includes advising on commercial real estate matters, contracts, IP licensing, and business licensing for cannabis, liquor and natural medicine (psychedelics). Rachael is the past chair of the Colorado Bar Association Cannabis Law Section and frequently presents on the laws, regulations, and policies effecting businesses and entrepreneurs in the cannabis, liquor and natural medicine industries, as well as the intersection of cannabis legalization and estate planning. She resides in Fort Collins, Colorado.
