COURSE DESCRIPTION

In this 90-minute course, attorneys Adrienne Fischer of Basecamp Legal, Kelly Politte of Politte Law Offices, LLC, and Naomi Stokeld of Emendo Law will provide The Practical Lawyer’s annual review of recent and upcoming legal changes that affect law firm business and practice management. This course will be invaluable to solo and small law firm owners and attorneys, not only from the perspective of ensuring compliance in their own business dealings, but also to alert clients whose business operations may also be affected. This overview will include compliance reminders to law firm owners to report both their own beneficial ownership interest in their own law firm and their involvement in forming clients’ entities pursuant to the Corporate Transparency Act. Speakers will provide guidance on addressing increasing incidents of business entity identity theft using secure business entity filing now available on Colorado Secretary of State's website.

PRESENTERS:

Adrienne Fischer is a Denver-based corporate attorney with an undergraduate degree from New York University and a law degree from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles. She practiced in Los Angeles, focusing on business and employment law, before founding Basecamp Legal after her move to Denver in 2016. Since then, Adrienne has successfully represented numerous small businesses, facilitated multi-million-dollar venture deals, and safeguarded her clients’ brands. Curious about artificial intelligence, Adrienne is exploring new ways to integrate technology into business practices. As a passionate advocate for startups and emerging growth companies, she has become a recurring speaker at Denver Startup Week. Additionally, Adrienne mentors emerging entrepreneurs through programs such as Founded Outdoors and the REI Co-op's Path Ahead Ventures Embark Program. Adrienne is licensed in California, Colorado, and Idaho. She is committed to helping her clients reach their peak. She  spends her free time skiing, hiking with her two dogs, and working on her book.

Kelly Politte focuses her practice in the areas of tax law, business and corporate law, and trusts and estate planning and litigation. Within her practice she represents individuals, businesses and corporations, and professionals, through all facets of civil and criminal tax controversies, business matters (both transactional and litigation), and wealth and succession planning and litigation. Kelly matriculated with her MBA, JD, and LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Denver, and has been practicing law for 17 years, has clients all over the country, and regularly utilizes or is utilized for contract and co-counsel services.

Naomi Stokeld is a business attorney with a global perspective, holding a law degree from Santiago, Chile, and an LL.M. from Georgetown University, where she graduated with distinction. Licensed in Colorado, California, and Chile, Naomi supports startups and medium-sized businesses throughout every stage of the business cycle. She is also a dedicated mentor at RMMFI and MSU Launch Denver and is committed to empowering entrepreneurs.
